NDH wins Big Lottery Grant - 14.02.2012
The Big Lottery grant a further three years funding for our work with Young People
Young People in Ilfracombe, Yeo Valley, Gorwell, Frankmarsh and Forches have been granted three years Big Lottery funding to provide dedicated youth workers. The team of seven personnel will work out of the Vision Centre in Slade Valley, Ilfracombe, the Deaf Centre in Gorwell and Forches Community Association Community Centre, Barnstaple.
The £295,026 has been awarded to North Devon Homes to extend the work in partnership with the Forches Community Association that has been delivered since 2009, and to extend this to other community groups in Barnstaple and Ilfracombe.
“Starfish NDH” is a multi agency partnership project that engages with young people aged 9 to 16 providing weekly youth clubs, learning and training opportunities, adventure week ends and a variety of life experiences. Young People are encouraged to take on responsibilities in the running of the project and to have a say in what they would like to do.
Adults can become involved through volunteering opportunities at the youth clubs or within projects that evolve, for example the Ilfracombe Landmark Theatre music project “Ilfracombe Rocks”.
