NORTH DEVON HOMES LOCAL PROCUREMENT INITITAITVE SUPPORTS NORTH DEVON CHARITY AND TRAINS YOUNG PEOPLE IN CONSTRUCTION SKILLS

A unique partnership between North Devon Homes and local charity - Community Projects North Devon has resulted in a budding new community enterprise.

North Devon homes are at the beginning of a major estate regeneration project refurbishing and developing homes on one of Barnstaples most deprived estates.
The organisation are committed to introducing an ethical procurement culture for the programme, investing where possible in local suppliers and service providers.

An example of this is the supply of new sheds to tenants. Previously sourced via the traditional building suppliers route – bespoke sheds are now being constructed in Barnstaple by the local charities ‘Jigsaw Project’ – a furniture re-use and carpentry skills training project. The project helps clients on low incomes with the supply of affordable furniture and provides training opportunities for unemployed people referred by a number of local agencies.
