Following the July 19th lifting of Covid restrictions larger scale social events have returned to the communal lounges on our sheltered schemes. With Covid still very present in our area, coffee mornings are being supported by staff and run – like local cafes – according to risk assessments and Covid secure practices developed during lockdowns when numbers were limited to the ‘rule of 6’.
With many landlords still keeping their communal lounges closed, it’s really positive to NDH staff engaging with residents safely and to hear the buzz of voices back in our shared spaces.
At Medard House residents are able to attend 2 coffee mornings a week and a cinema club, and staff in are in discussions with other providers - always looking to responsibly expand the range of activities on offer.
In the last week here over £400 has been raised for charity at social events in the Medard lounge. The return of fundraising to our schemes, and the generosity of residents there, really feels like something to celebrate.
