**UPDATE - NOV 2021**
We are excited to announce that we have now submitted a full planning application for the redevelopment of Mariners Close in Braunton. Our development aims to provide state-of-the-art facilities for the over 55’s in a prime village location close to local amenities. Our aspirations are to demolish all the flats and bedsits and provide 29 new affordable rented homes complete with front facing new community space. We continue to work closely with and support residents that are living at this Independent Living Scheme. We expect to hear the outcome by Easter 2022 and will be updating all of the outcome.

Over the coming years North Devon Homes will be redeveloping our Independent Living Scheme at Mariners Close in Braunton. The process of consulting with our residents and local neighbours has already begun and customers have started to be decanted into new accommodations around North Devon, in most cases new accommodation which is better suited or more habitable than the older bedsit accommodation at Mariners Close.
The development aims to provide state-of-the-art living facilities for the over 55s in a prime village location close to local amenities. The accommodation will be affordable, in what is normally an expensive place to live. It aims to provide safe and secure housing and build a community of like-minded residents along with the communal hub on South Street to reduce social isolation.
We are continuing our consultation for our initial design plans for Mariners Close and would like to invite you to take a look and provide us with your views. We have aspirations to demolish all flats and bedsits at this complex and wish to provide a brand new complex consisting of 29 affordable rented homes complete with a front facing new community space. We are ultimately looking to provide a refreshed development which encourages an enhanced style of community living in the centre of Braunton. We are working closely with all our tenants to provide much needed support and regular updates.
