Asad was co-opted to the Board on 13 June 2016 and appointed an Independent Board member at our AGM on 23 September 2016.  He is Vice Chair of the Board.

He has 32 years experience in the social housing sector with local authorities, the Housing Corporation and the Homes and Communities Agency and would like to bring his substantial expertise to the Board of North Devon Homes.  In particular, his knowledge of the various Government funding streams - their assessment, and allocation of funds is of great value.

Asad Butt; man with grey hair and moustache; Board Member

Asad began his career in housing at the London Borough of Wandsworth where he was a part of the team that developed a comprehensive housing management computer system, focussing on rent collection. After the successful implementation, he moved to the London Borough of Southwark where he helped set up a Central Arrears Team initially, following this with the renegotiation of service level agreements with the Housing Benefits Department, local area housing offices, Legal Services and local County Courts. This included a fundamental overhaul of all the rent collection procedures and how they were to operate across the whole organisation.

He has also fulfilled many senior finance / development and management roles at the Homes and Communities Agency (and its predecessor body the Housing Corporation). During his time with them, he has dealt with nearly all of the local authorities in the south west region and has been responsible for disseminating Government housing policy at a local level. Asad was also seconded to the Social Exclusion Unit at the Government Offices for 18 months.

Asad sits on the Audit and Risk Committee, our C90 group, and is Chair of the Group Remuneration and People Committee.
