What We Do

As a community landlord we have a range of areas that we work across to support our customers. We do not just build homes and manage tenancies, we make sure we provide extra services for everyone in our communities.

Manage our homes

As a charity we are non-profit, meaning all our income that we receive from rents and charges is invested back into our homes and services. We handle day to day repairs and emergencies, undertake improvements such as new heating systems, kitchens and bathrooms and make community improvements on estates and offer an out of hours repairs service to ensure our customers are always able to get the help they need.

We also ensure our homes are safe as well as fit for living in. We manage our annual service and inspection regime in house, which includes gas servicing and alarm checks.

We work to ensure that your neighbourhood is a well-maintained, pleasant and safe place to live with our grounds maintenance programme to keep communal areas clean and tidy.


Invest in communities

We are committed to creating communities where people want to live. We believe that building strong and safe communities is as important as providing a home. We want to continuously improve the communities we work in; we do this by helping to deliver services essential to creating thriving neighbourhoods.

We run events and community groups across the area throughout the year to encourage participation and reduce loneliness in our communities. As well as this we are regularly in touch with communities to ensure they are getting all the support they need.

The work we do in the community goes further than just investing in the area. We are there to support our customers and make sure they are living happy and fulfilling lives in their homes. Whether that is a member of our youth service, their family, a customer in one of our homes or an older person living in one of our supported housing schemes.

We offer an alarm service, which is available to anyone living in the Torridge or North Devon areas. We appreciate that every one of our customers has individual needs and preferences. We take the time to get to know you and understand your needs to develop a detailed support plan that suits you.

Build new homes

Our aim is to provide more quality, affordable housing in North Devon. We want our homes to be energy efficient and sustainable longer term meaning we can create low-cost options for both our customers and our long-term maintenance programmes.

We also provide homes for our Shared Ownership scheme; encouraging local people to get onto the property ladder by purchasing a stake in our properties. We work with customers to manage their finances and help them find a way of owning their own home.

We have a subsidiary company, Anchorwood Ltd, which builds market sale properties, which invests all the profits back into North Devon Homes (NDH) so we are able to build more affordable homes for local people.
